Hold Reports reappear in the new Purview eDiscovery interface

The roadmap item still shows the rollout of hold reports scheduled for November, but imagine my surprise on Friday when I saw a new “Dashboard” section in the left-hand menu, which included a link to Hold Reports:

The report itself resembles what was available in the now-retired Premium eDiscovery interface. Given the surprise appearance ahead of schedule, it makes sense that they’ve moved what was already there.

The report, in my case, shows both active holds and those that were released in a case that is still being closed. The “group” function offers more insight into the holds.

It will be interesting to see if Microsoft has any further development surprises with the hold report. For now, I’m just glad that eDiscovery professionals can see what holds exist in the interface!
