Worth Reading – Enhanced App Support in Microsoft Teams Private Channels

This might not seem like a big deal, but it is. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to create a separate Team for a small group because they want a Private Channel, but they also want to use Planner in it, or some other app that wasn’t supported in Private Channels.

That creates significant Teams sprawl that doesn’t need to exist.

Of course, the specific issue with Planner was eliminated with the ability to “Add a Page” in shared and private channels, where I can start a task list and backdoor my way into using Planner in the channel, but the larger issue has remained. While these channel types fill a need, the limitations wound up hurting adoption.

Here’s hoping these updates make it viable for more users because I can see a lot of good use cases for these channels.
