Worth Reading – Microsoft 365 Uptime Perfomance Sinks to New Low

This isn’t good:

According to Microsoft, the Microsoft 365 uptime performance for Q1 CY2026 was 99.526%. That’s the lowest uptime figure since we started to record data in 2013.

When you base decisions on 99.9-plus percent uptime and it’s only 99.5, that’s significant. Especially when you bill by the hour. That means there were multiple hours during the quarter when users couldn’t work. If you’re a company as large as Microsoft is, that is unacceptable. When you have spent so much time trying to convince companies that they shouldn’t even consider not using your AI tools and other automations, and then have times when they can’t, that’s bad business.

It also opens you up to criticism about whether you’re vibe-coding your own products instead of providing stability to the platform. Is Microsoft really doing that? I don’t know, but when you have this much of a dip in your quality of service, it’s fair to wonder.

Have you been impacted by these outages in Q1?
